A SEMANTICS OF EXILE

Loneliness is closely related to nostalgia as the quintessential state of the estranged artist. On the one hand, there is the return to a mythical and lost space, a utopian island where my mental space aims to be reconstructed. On the other hand, there is the distance that stands between myself and my island.

Solitude

Solitude delves into the semantics of exile by exploring its origins through a self-portrait.
With her body slightly bent and her head in her arms, the artist sits on the undefined remains of a ruined civilization, forever gone.
Alone before her own memory, she reconnects with her eternal plastic wandering.
Transformed by natural and burnt earthy tones accompanied by cadmium yellow, orange, and cobalt blue brushstrokes, the composition becomes a joy of light that displays the creative fruit of solitude, or "the original in us" in the words of Thomas Mann.
